After the dialogue, Abdullah told reporters that the participants of today’s discussion has “unanimously agreed” that the root cause of the crisis was due to the “inaccurate translation of ‘God’ as ‘Allah’“. “Panellists and participants agreed that the use of the word ‘Allah’ as the translation or replacement for ‘God’ is inaccurate and contrary to the concept of God hosted by the religion of Islam based on the current reality in Malaysia,” he said. MInsiderLulu was puzzled with the "unanimously agreed" bit cos the panelists included PAS president Datuk Seri Hadi Awang and former Perlis mufti Dr Asri Zainul Abidin, and we all know their views on this.
ah.....
Looks like Lulu's suspicion was not unfounded.
"Former Perlis Mufti Dr Asri Zainul Abidin told The Malaysian Insider that the main thrust of the day-long expert discussion — or muzakarah as it is termed in the Islamic context — dealt with whether or not non-Muslims could use the word “Allah” and the general agreement was that they could, based on certain guidelines which have yet to be spelled out." Hadi said the experts who attended a forum organised by the Institute of Islamic Understanding Malaysia (Ikim) on Thursday had not even reached a resolution on the matter.Lulu suspects the old man fell asleep [as usual] and read a speech prepared by someone else during the press conference.
"The forum did not pass any resolution. The reports are not true," Hadi was quoted as saying by Pas mouthpiece HarakahDaily online yesterday. NST
You and I may know the truth about what PAS president Datuk Seri Hadi Awang, former Perlis mufti Dr Asri Zainul Abidin and PKR supreme council member Dr Mohd Nur Manuty's views are, but do you think they will print this clarification in Utusan? Utusan is THE newspaper for the Malay heartland, and as long as no correction is done, the Malay heartland, thinking that it was a no reservations unanimous decision, will not understand and view Lulu suspiciously for being one of those who believe that Allah is for all.
Lulu wishes AAB and IKIM was more honest about the discussion.
