Lulu Wonders If YenYen Will Go To Kuala Trengganu Like She Did In Permatang Pauh

Some ministers are really good. they turun padang. some are really good, like this ng yen yen. she's so hardworking. in the midst of her very busy schedule, she takes the time to register the poor for welfare aid.

When she turun-ed padang, she was saddened that many of the poor were not aware of the welfare assistance provided by the federal government all this while.

During a people's program recently, senior citizens above the age of 60 came in crowds bringing their ICs to register with personnels from Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat.
The personnels then would check the ICs with the electoral roll to see if the senior citizens qualify for the RM200.
After her speech, Dr. Ng Yen Yen began distributing the RM200 to all the qualified senior voters who have registerd with JKM (Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat).

Isn't she the loveliest? the bestest? the hardworkingest?
Did Lulu mention to you that it took place in Pematang Pauh during the by-election season?
Will she turun padang in KT too?
What do you think?

BUKIT MERTAJAM, Aug 19 (Bernama) -- Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Dr Ng Yen Yen is saddened that many of the poor in the Permatang Pauh constituency are not aware of the welfare assistance provided by the federal government all this while.
"I am sad that for years their leaders have not paid attention to their plight.
"To me, as a leader, one must have the initiative to obtain information to help the local community," she told reporters after a one-day people's programme with the ministry, here Tuesday.

Lulu thinks not,
cos the leader at KT was a BN guy, and he is supposed to have beres-ed all this and ensured that the poor in KT are aware of all the different welfare assistance the federal government has to offer.

Lulu Can't Really Blame Them For Thinking That Raising Foreign Movie Tickets is The Solution To Non-Interest In Local Films

Malaysians will have to pay more to watch Hollywood films in the cinemas if a proposal by the Malaysian Film Producers Association is accepted by the government.
The association wants the ticket price for Hollywood movies to be hiked to protect local feature films.
Its president, Ahmad Puad Onah, said the higher ticket prices was among proposals the association would submit to the National Film Development Corporation soon.
"Our members agree that only by hiking the admission price of Hollywood movies will Malaysians go to watch local movies."
NST - RM20 to watch a Hollywood movie?

before you start cursing and swearing, you have to understand, we come from a nation which produced Proton cars. That and also shallow thinkers.
Once Proton started producing cars, Japanese cars which were the most popular marquee to the average salary worker were made unaffordable to them. Additional taxes were imposed on them to make them priced a class above the Protons. The Nissan 130Y and Honda Civic was quickly replaced by the Proton Sagas known for rosak power windows.

Now the Malaysian Film Producers Association wants to also have this kind of protection.
Sadly, these shallow thinkers think that if they kill the foreign film industry, the people will flock to watch their movies.
Lulu's got bad news to them. Doesn't happen that way.
Yes, the people will find alternatives.
No, if the local film is no good, its no good. No one is going to watch it if its boring, uninteresting and too preachy.
If the government does heed their call [quite often our government makes silly decisions] , then it will be Uncle Ho and his sidekicks who will gain from this decision. Which may not be a bad thing cos in the 98 downturn, the VCD industry was thriving and they were the only people who were spending - buying tai-sai-ngan, tai-kor-tai, helping to memberangsangkan the ekonomi.

We have succedeed before. There were great film series like the Bujang Lapuk and Jeffri Zain. Remember them?
Do you think they could have been filmed in today's environment?

What the Malaysian Film Producers Association should be doing is to improve their films, improve the quality of the script, stop being so moralistic, don't always have to insaf and bertaubat and well.... Lulu is sure you can think of a gazillion more things.
And Finas and the Culture, Arts and Heritage ministry should lay their hands off meddling with films and filmakers. Grants has to be given out fairly, and not to those with connections.

Maybe someday we will flock back.
But for now, no...

So How Lulu? Hudud-ah?

The papers are going to town over Husam's declarations and affirmation of PAS's pledge to implement syariah.

Initially, Lulu was a bit surprise to hear this coming from Husam. Then Lulu learnt that Husam made the declaration at a discourse on political transformation in the country on Saturday night, after fellow panellist and deputy Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin challenged him to state Pas' stand on the matter. Malaysia's biggest brat, also known as the soon to be dethroned power behind the throne had trapped Husam into declaring that.

But fact of the matter is, whether Lulu likes it or not, this has always been PAS intention.
Before March 8th, after March 8th.

However,
1. to take a cue from RPK cos he argues it much better,
Some Chinese say they refuse to vote for PAS because they are worried that PAS may implement Islamic laws. But how can PAS implement Islamic laws when they will never have a two-thirds majority in Parliament? PAS contested only 60 seats out of 222 Parliament seats. Then they went and won only 23 seats.
PAS needs about 150 seats in Parliament to change Malaysia from a Secular state into an Islamic state. But when they contest only 60 seats, even if they win all the 60 seats they contest it will still be only 60 seats. And they can’t win all the seats they contest. They can only win less than half the seats they contest. Where would PAS get the 150 parliament seats it requires?
2. Pakatan is made of PKR, DAP and PAS - a coalition of 3 equal partners. DAP has already said no. Lulu is waiting for PKR to make their stand. However individual party leaders have already voiced their argument.
Basically, Pakatan partners can say no. They can agree to disagree. Things cannot be carried out without an agreement from all parties.
Barisan however is made of one alpha party and many wimpy partners. When UMNO says "jump", [not just Liow, but] every wimpy dungu partner who says they are equal partners immediately respond, "how high?"
On Sept 29 2001 aka 929, the then PM Dr M declared Malaysia as an Islamic State. MCA and MIC, who began strutting around like a gibbon's backside on PAS statement, did not even breathe a whimper on this. After 929, every extremist and opportunist have been screaming at the moderates, "respect our rights! this is an islamic state!"
Where was MCA?
Where was MIC?
fending us?
no.... they were busy explaining UMNO's policy to "their" own kind.

Lulu hopes that when MCA messengars like Secretary-general Wong Foon Meng, Lulu's good-riddance-bye-by deposed MP Chew Mei Fun and other little minded like them bring this up at KT, the crowd will in return ask them what they did when Mahathir made us an Islamic state.

ABU - Anything But UMNO please.

Lulu Would Not Be Surprised If Liow Answered "how high?" If UMNO Were To Ask Him To Jump

afterall, look at his response when it was made known that the Government had intention to sell IJN to Sime Darby.
"I would like to reiterate that the fee structure is currently set by theGovernment.
It will be the same, even in the future so IJN cannot charge higher than what is allowed by the Government,”
"Whatever privatisation plan, the Government has clauses that will have to be looked into. There are a lot of Government requirements that they (Sime Darby) will have to fulfill,”

This doofus probably didnt even blink as he said all his "i am subservient to UMNO, i play my role as an overpaid messengar boy" it-is-going-to-happen-whether-you-suffer-or-not propaganda.
No "should not privatise" at all. Not even a slight whimper.
Just parroting, parroting and more parroting.

even Samy Vellu, who has lost the respect of almost all Malaysians, knew how to say, "MIC hopes that the government will not privatise IJN as it will cause hardship to the poor in the long run".

how long, Liow, before you start realising that how-high-to-UMNO-call is not the way to go anymore?

Lulu Laughs At Najib's Wishful Thinking

"But I don't want those involved in the BN machinery to give priority to the Umno elections instead of ensuring BN's victory."
NST Najib: Two reasons why Barisan must win

get real!
seriously

how many UMNO persons do you know would put the party ahead of self, especially when so much i$ at $take?
between behaving yourselves so that Datuk Wan Ahmad Farid Wan Salleh can win the KT seat and washing some dirty linen about your UMNO position rival, how many do you think there would be ANY who would choose the former?

as it is, look at the Wanita side.
Loud and no-nonsense Rafidah who is the current Wanita head, and also one of the two nominees for the position has taken charge of Wanita Umno's campaign in the Kuala Terengganu, a role which is traditionally taken by the deputies. For eg, Umno deputy president Datuk Seri Najib Razak for the overall campaign, deputy heads of Umno Youth and Puteri Umno taking charge of their respective wings' machinery.

Maybe now she unemployed, more free. And the school year will be starting so grandchildren got no time for her. And parliament not in session, not like she attends annyway.
But basically maybe she has more time.
Or maybe she sees it as an opportunity to be "high profile". To show her voters [those who vote for Wanita-la, not the KT MP voters] who's in charge, who can run the show and maybe even who's running down her rival.

And there will be many more Rafidah's in KT.
Most would probably be not as smart and cunning as her.
Most would probably do low-class cucuk rival and drag the whole party into mud.

Good for them!
And who do they have to thank for all this?
The egoisitic, praise loving, slow thinking Prime Minister who did not allow UMNO's election to take place in December.
If he had, the winners would have won, the losers would have lost. They would have consolidated and faced KT united.
But now they go into the KT battlefield with their eyes focused on the goal post, which is not UMNO's victory in KT but their personal victory at the UMNO elections in March.

Thank You Pak Lah!
You gave us Mar8th, now Lulu thinks you have also given us Jan 17th.

Lulu Is A Shareholder of Sime Darby

aiyoh... one of my rugi duit investments-la. Bought the shares in the time when it looked like palm oil could do no wrong.

You could call Lulu a stakeholder of what happens to Sime.
Whilst Lulu would like to see the price of Sime Darby shares go up, up and away, Lulu thinks it is wrong-wrong-wrong for the conglomerate to expect IJN to run it per the silly quotes made by
our siily PM Abdullah: Takeover allowed only if company continues to service low income groups
his silly DPM who will someday be our silly [and some say merciless] PM : Company must keep in mind that social responsibility takes precedence over financial gains
our never fail to say silly things Health Minister Liow: Govt will continue to regulate IJN's fees

of course the Government has no objection to Sime Darby buying IJN. They're making money in this venture, and they're giving us silly assuarances expecting us to believe it.

Come on-la, Sime Darby is a listed company who has a responsibility to their shareholders to make money.
How long will it be before ppl who go to IJN for welfare are told to go to the government agencies?
IJN was never meant to be profitable. Public healthcare is never about the RM and sen, but about the lives you safe.
What a stupid greedy government we have.
If they really believe what they are saying, then they should talk to the overcapacity, overproducing and overpaid IPPs.
In August 1998, after reporting its largest annual loss ever,70 Tenaga Chairman Ahmad Tajuddin Ali announced what analysts had long suspected: that the utility was having problems paying the independent power producers and was seeking “deferments and discounts” from them. The Chairman suggested that the IPPs had to consider the “national interest” and hinted that if Tenaga, the sole customer of the IPPs, were to sink, the IPPs would follow. The company withheld payment to the IPPs in August and September while negotiations were pending.
Yet, it seems that Tenaga was not willing to unilaterally change the contracts. Tenaga asked the IPPs to renegotiate their rates in exchange for extending the PPAs beyond the original 21-year term. In October of 1998 the IPPs rejected this offer, but agreed to amend payment terms, giving Tenaga an extra two weeks to pay for each monthly invoice. This minor change was achieved through regulatory adjustments – the PPAs remained unchanged.
If the government could not convince the IPPs on "national interest", do you think they can convince Sime Darby when the time comes?

Please join the public outcry against this attempted sale. Lulu thinks [esp since the KT elections are round the corner], the government will show fear reconsider if the anger from the people is loud and clear. Voice your protest by blogging it, writing to newspapers, spreading the word about this dishonourable sale. Can we stop the sale? Lulu believes, YES WE CAN!

Go read The IPP Investment Experience in Malaysia at http://iis-db.stanford.edu/pubs/20956/Malaysia_IPP.pdf

Update 19/12
Thanks to the public outcry, the Cabinet has decided to defer its decision on the proposed privatisation of the National Heart Institute (IJN). Lulu wants to thank all those who showed their disgust to the government, and a special appreciation to the doctors who also stood up against the decision.

However, the cabinet is not exactly saying no, the proposal is dead, but probably buying time to wait until this issue is forgotten and people are not tracking it. We will continue to support each other by looking out for other hanky pankies the government may try to pull.

Lulu Can Only Cycle In A Straight Line

Not being the brightest of persons, it should not surprise you that Lulu can only cycle in a straight line.
Lulu used to cycle on a bicycle [graduated from the tricycle-la] when Lulu was in the kindergarten age. Then one day, whilst cycling around the neighbourhood, Lulu got knocked by a car, fell off the bicycle and caused poor mum great worry which resulted in her giving away the bicycle.

A few years later, Lulu tried to cycle.
Some people say, you never forget how to cycle.
Lulu says, bluff one. cos Lulu forgot.
Lulu tried.
Lulu kayuh the pedal 2 rounds then like going to fall over.
After a few attempts, YAY! Lulu could cycle!
straight line that is.
When it came to a turn, Lulu could not [and to this day, still has not] figure out how to do it.

You see, somewhere along the way, Lulu learnt in Physics that you have to lean a certain direction what you want to make a turn.
[Take a look at the diagram.]
Being one of the most easily confused lulu around, Lulu could not remember which way to lean to if she wants to make a left turn.
That compounded by the fear that Lulu may over-lean and her center of gravity is out of what-it-called and will fall over.
Hence, Lulu dares not make any turnings and has to get off the bicycle, turn, then only get on again and cycle in her happy straight line.

The Jerit cyclists not only cycled straight lines and made turnings, they slept in open spaces, stopped, arrested, questioned, not fed whilst in questioning, the kids were harassed, their parents bullied, they had their bicycles torched, confiscated and cameras snatched away. It is the stuff that HBO movies are made of. They are the Rosa Park of Malaysia. Lulu tabiks them.
Lulu tabiks the message that they carry -
- the Government to abolish Internal Security Act
- pass a Minimum Wage Act for workers
- provide homes for all
- stop the privatisation of public facilities
- control the prices of goods
- restore local government elections
