Lulu Shudders At The Possibility of The Race Relations Act Being Used To Formalise Racism In Malaysia

Do you know that if you order Hokkien mee in Penang, you will not get a plate of big fat lok yellow mee,
but instead, you get a bowl of this egg noodles and rice noodles served with soup which is made from both fresh shrimp and dried prawns. yummy too!

Do you know that in the UK, the Race Relations Act covers discrimination on the grounds of race, colour, nationality, ethnic and national origin in the fields of employment, the provision of goods and services, education and public functions?
Both direct and indirect discrimination are an offence. Those affected by discrimination can seek redress through employment tribunals and the courts.

Everyone's favorite *roll eye* how-stupid-do-you-think-the-rakyat-are minister is one of the two ministers in charge of gathering information and data to draft the Race Relations Act for our country.
The Act would touch on race relations through the economic, education and distribution systems, and includes provisions on punitive action while using the Federal Constitution as the guideline, he said.
What do you think?
Do you think we'd get a UK style Race Relations Act which covers discrimination?

Knowing Syed Hamid, knowing UMNO, knowing the racists and supremacists, Lulu thinks not.
Lulu shudders at the thought of all those new things they would define which we are not allowed to persoalkan.
Lulu hopes that these are one of those acts which will require a 2/3 majority vote and if it has even a whiff of racism and/or supreme-ism at all, the MPs on both sides of the dewan will vote by conscience.

Race Relations Act?
This one we must follow carefully.

Lulu's Badly Written Ode To A Wimp Who Is Leaving

ah Pak Lah
sekarang sudah tak payah
tiap-tiap hari
masuk kerja tidur meeting
siang hari, malam mari
dua-dua boleh tidur
tidur tidur tidur

ah Pak Lah
sekarang sudah tak payah
tiap-tiap hari
dengar leteran khairi
siang hari, malam mari
masing-masing hidup sendiri
sendiri sendiri sendiri

ah Pak Lah
sekarang sudah tak payah
[dalam kes ini] tak dapat
duduk personal luxury jet rapat-rapat
siang hari, malam mari
tidur katil, duduk kerusi
kerusi kerusi kerusi

ah Pak Lah
sekarang sudah tak payah
kelihatan macam bedol
semua pun tak tahu macam dodol
siang hari, malam mari
bela kambing makan kari
kari kari kari

told you its a badly written ode.
kinda like his badly run administration
slightly more humourous though

Lulu Wonders If You Would Like To Know What It Is Like To Be A Refugee In Malaysia

Our government thinks that the nation's success is measured by the tall buildings we build, our ability to pay someone to go to space, having the longest jalur gemilang on the great wall of china, having the longest pizza, a personal luxury jet for the prime minister, that kind of thing.

Lulu thinks the measure of a nation's success is how they treat the poor, irregardless whether they are our citizens or not. all are made in the image of God, all belong to this big-big race known as the human race.
and in this aspect, we have failed greatly.

Tenaganita has documented the cycle of arrest, detention and deportation that the Burmese refugees in Malaysia experience into a book. The book will be launched tomorrow Saturday, September 27th 2008, from 5.00 - 7.30 p.m., at Mandarin Court Hotel [not the mahal-mahal Mandarin Oriental], Kuala Lumpur. map

Do go especially if you are interested in the refugee plight, or if you want to know more, or want to bring friends to enlighten them.

btw, Lulu would not be surprised if the Home Ministry led by the so-no-steam Syed Hamid will go into denial mode, condemn the book and ban it. So, if you wanna read it, quickly-quickly go buy it.

Lulu Wonders If She Has A Case Against The Government

Lulu is an anak jati Selangor [if there is such a thing-la],
and she is incensed with the detention of Teresa Kok.
They bundled her away in the middle of the night, did not allow her to contact anyone, and did not even tell her where she was taken to.
"under ISA", they tell her.
nothing more.

When her parents visited her on Monday, she had lost track of time.
She did not know it was Monday, for she had been confined into a cell with no windows, not knowing when day had turned to night.
They asked her the same few questions over and over again.
Questions, whose truth could have easily been made known if the police, in this modern day and age, had picked up the thing that Alexander Graham Bell invented over 100 years ago, and called the two mosques.
They could have asked her to come in at an appointed time to be interviewed/interrogated/whatever.
but, no...
"under ISA", they tell her.

How is Lulu involved in this?
Other than the emotional roller coaster, the anxiety, Lulu, as she mentioned earlier, is an anak jati Selangor.
Sassy MP, Ms Teresa Kok is the Selangor Senior State Exco responsible for Trade and Industry.
On the morning of the day they arrested her, she was explaining to 300 businessmen from China that Malaysia was a politically stable country for them to do business with.
What do you think the investors confidence level is when the person who spoke to them on Friday appeared in the papers the next day, detained?
How much do you think Selangor [and her people - people like Lulu] lost because of this stupid-stupid dentention?
The Selangor exco has also to postpone their trip to Taiwan to bring in investors to Selangor until suitable date as it is difficult to explain the ISA detention as well as the country’s situation to potential investors.

So, what do you think? Do the Selangor-ians [got such thing-ah? Afterall, Penang has their Penangites] have a case against the government? Any lawyer-lawyer wanna advise Lulu?

In the meantime, our totally in control, Islam Hadhari does not lie PM [dont you just love his new title?] 's Second Finance Minister is busy pointing fingers at Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, accusing him of his recent actions leading to political uncertainty and slowed down the flow of investments into the country.
what a joke!
*roll eyes*

Lulu Thinks The Bookies Would Be Welcoming Bets That There Will Be No More ISA Arrests

the thing is, dunno if there still are guillible Malaysians out there who, for reasons known best to themselves, still believe our totally in control, Islam Hadhari does not lie PM when he says, "I have no plans regarding the use of the ISA on anybody"

Lulu Wonders If The Government Would Give The Rakyat Another Round of "benefit from the current global market depreciation of crude oil prices"

Two days after our beloved and hopefully soonly departed PM had said,
The Government is not planning to announce the new fuel prices before polling day for the Permatang Pauh by-election.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said the Government would stick to its decision to announce the new prices on Aug 31, to be enforced on Sept 1.

he announced a cut in petrol and diesel price.

Its so true to his u-turn character [almost as if it was in the script of a "U-Turn PM" movie].
Our totally in control, Islam Hadhari does not lie PM then said,
There is a possibility that the prices may go up so it would be a waste if we do not lower our prices now. This is to take advantage of the current lower global prices.

mind you, according to a member of our totally in control, Islam Hadhari does not lie PM's cabinet,
the Government’s decision to lower fuel prices earlier than expected was due to the rising inflation rate and not because it wanted to win the votes of the Permatang Pauh constituents.

Two weeks ago, our totally in control, Islam Hadhari does not lie PM called on us to pray that
if world market prices for fuel remained stable at US$109 for the rest of the year, Malaysians might even enjoy another 15 sen drop below the current rate of RM2.55.

well, guess what crude oil prices are now, and how long has it been below that magic 109 number?

source : http://www.livecharts.co.uk/daily_charts/daily_charts.php
also ref Bloomberg http://www.bloomberg.com/markets/commodities/energyprices.html

do we have to wait till Oct 1st for the new price announcement?
don't we, the rakyat, to quote our totally in control, Islam Hadhari does not lie PM, deserve to benefit from the current global market depreciation of crude oil prices?
or do we have to wait till oct1st/Pensiangan by-election whichever comes first?

Lulu mumble-mumble-grumbles...

Aug 21 - No new fuel price announcements for now, says Abdullah
Aug 23 - Government decides to bring forward ‘floating’ price mechanism
Sep 5 - Pray that oil prices stay low, says PM

Instead of Offering Comfort, Lulu Was Comforted By Teresa's Mum

Have you read what Teresa's mum said after she had seen her daughter?
http://freeteresa.dapmalaysia.org/
“I hope she can regain her freedom and come out as soon as possible and continue to live an ordinary life instead of being detained in a cage like a dog. They locked her up once she walked into that room which is only 6′ x 8′. She is not allowed to read newspaper or any other reading material. She lost all her freedom!
“I feel so sad. Yes they gave her three meals a day, but the food is bad! She had diarrhea this morning and her blood pressure plunged!
“Her dad did not notice it but she was so pale when we met her. It pains me seeing her like that. I never expected that my daughter who spend 2/3 of her time a day servicing the people, fighting for the people’s interest and right, can end up like this.

But Teresa's mum reminded her that
we are people who believe in God. Bible told us those who are victimise because they fight for
justice are the blessed people. Such people are children of God.

That was truly a statement from a strong woman. And it is no wonder that Teresa is also a strong woman.

Lulu prays that God will continue to sustain her and keep her spirits high.
Kindness from the officers who are in charge of her,
Better cooks in the lockup
Speedy release
A successful lawsuit against the lying KT and the skewed Utusan
and yes,
God promises us that [Matt 5: 10] Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Thank You Teresa and family for carrying the burden of persection for us all.

Lulu Hopes To See You Tonight

You Know What Lulu Would Do If They Took In Khir Toyo and Ahmad Ismail Under The ISA?

Lulu would still protest the usage of ISA.
To detain someone, no matter how badly he has behaved, without giving him an opportunity for defense, is wrong.

You know what they do to you in the 1st 60 days?
from wiki,
A person detained under the ISA during the first 60 days is held incommunicado, with no access to the outside world. Furthermore, lawyers and family members are not allowed access to the detainee during this initial period.

Lulu would still call for Khir and Ahmad [first name basis like so friend like that] to be freed.
Not because she likes them or believes they are innocent, like in the case of RPK and Teresa, but because the ISA is wrong-wrong-wrong.

Please Do Not Threaten Lulu's Life Cos Lulu Don't Want The Police To Protect Her

Syed Hamid said the police had detained Tan because they had received information that her life was being threatened and there might be possible injury to her and the police wanted to get to the bottom of it.
see - if you threaten Lulu's life, the police will have to detain Lulu

Syed Hamid said the police thought it was best to get first-hand information from Tan and thus took her in under the ISA and released her a day later after they got the necessary information and found no reason to hold her.
and then, they won't let Lulu go home. They hold Lulu under ISA and they'll keep Lulu overnight to get necessary information from Lulu about whatever that caused people to threaten Lulu's life.

“I don’t think we are being unfair or that we mistreated her in any way. We acted professionally and after a day released her,”
and then they'll claim that they weren't unfair to Lulu or mistreated Lulu in any way though they come to Lulu's house, tell her she's arrested under the no questions asked ISA and later spirit Lulu off to an unknown police station. Yup! no unfairness, no mistreatment.

Asked why the police did not just ask Tan to come in for questioning instead of arresting her, Syed Hamid said it was always difficult when it came to the police when dealing with reporters.
Syed Hamid would probably say the same thing about bloggers too. So, maklumlah, they'd extend protection to Lulu via the ISA.

so please folks, no death threats, no bunuh dia to Lulu, kay?

and for good measure a "ptui!" to Syed Hamid for the incredulous statements he made.

Lulu's Heart Continues To Break

Malaysiakini - Sin Chew journalist arrested
Sep 12, 08 9:38pm
Sin Chew Daily journalist Tan Hoon Cheng has been arrested today at 8.30pm at her home in Bukit Mertajam, Penang.

For what?
reporting what a "friend of all races" said?
the "friend of all races" never denied the statement. even went as far as explaining to us the "historical" context.
She reported the truth, got death threats and she got arrested????
what sort of nation do we live in?
what sort of legacy/imprint will we leave our children? that we must never offend the powerful ones?
this is sick.
sick.
sick.
sick.

and in the meantime, the "friend of all races" is going to tour the country and explain to party divisions about the controversy.

and what was it our stupid lazy lying pm said the other day?
PUTRAJAYA: The media must not be afraid of honest reporting while upholding truth and justice, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.
He said the media should also not feel apologetic when reporting the facts.
the Star - Uphold the truth, Abdullah tells media
there's even a video of him making the speech if you doubt the reporting.

oooooooooooooooooooooooooo.....................lulu's VERY upset!

anil netto reports that
The Chief Minister’s political secretary is now believed to be at the station. About 40 reporters and others have gathered along Dickens Street off Penang Road now.
Lulu prays that not just her friends and colleagues are surrounding her, that God will send His angels to surround her and protect her from evil and harm.

Lulu In Solidarity with RPK

Malaysiakini - Raja Petra arrested under ISA
Controversial blogger Raja Petra Kamaruddin was arrested today under the Internal Security Act for allegedly being a threat to security, peace and public order.
According to Home Minister Syed Hamid Albar, the 58-year old father of five would be detained under Section 73(1) of the ISA, which allows for detention of up to 60 days.

Lulu Would Rather Trust Cruella de Vil With Your Dalmations

if MIC has even the littlest finger in this project to ensure three per cent Indian equity participation by 2020,
if MIC is to be trusted to assist in Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB)'s management of a scheme that would allow Indians to own shares without going through the difficult process of getting bank loans,
if MIC is to be trusted to be the contact point [aka middleman] of Indian contractors being allowed to bid for selected government projects
if MIC is to be trusted to be party to the issuance of licences to Indian contractors to carry out projects, especially Class F contracts

then our government is really, truly an ass of the highest degree.

Up to today, MIC has never explained what happened 9 million Telekom shares that were originally offered to Maika Holdings had been rechanneled to three unknown companies, SB Management Services Sdn. Bhd., Advanced Personal Computers Sdn. Bhd., and Clearway Sdn. Bhd.
Google Maika Holdings Telekom and read what comes out. Nothing good. Nothing which will make you feel like you could trust the idiots at MIC. Nothing, nothing, nothing.

Read about how MIC hogged a "RM3mil land" in Bandar Utama, enriching their coffers instead of putting it into a trust for MAIKA holdings, for people who had pawned their jewellery and borrowed money to invest in MAIKA. See where their trust lead them.

Lulu would rather trust Cruella de Vil with your dalmations [Lulu got no dalmations-ma...] then trust MIC to administer any funds for the Indians.

Lulu Does Not Think That The Malays Are Like That

"One reporter insisted that I answer one more question from her, she was being a little bit rude, so some people got upset, you know how we Malays sometimes get angry with this kind of behaviour," said Ahmad when contacted explaining the "sudah lah (enough)" and "bunuh dia (kill her)," remarks made at a reporter.
Malaysian Insider - Ahmad Blames Koh For Tension

Yes, Lulu believes everyone gets angry, but not to the extent of telling others to "bunuh dia" just for being persistent in asking questions in a press conference.
You may roll your eyes in light of the persistence, but to call for a "bunuh dia", that's criminal.

Lulu hopes that he will find himself standing alone, or with just a handfull of likeminded narrowmindeds as he calls for his "us"
"Let us not let it go to waste as the flames of anger among Malays and Muslims has reached new heights. Let us take embrace this anger and come together as Malays and Muslims throughout the land so that we can turn the voices of the Malays into one that will unite all Malays and Muslims into one single movement."
Malaysiakini - Ahmad did it again, told Chinese not be American Jews

To build a nation, it has to grow out of love, not hate and anger.

correction on the title, as pointed out by the readers. thanks guys!
yah... Lulu does not think that the Malays are like that.
no siree.... they're not like what UMNO Penang claims they represent.

Lulu Wonders If The PM Realises That Ahmad Ismail Is Also Refering To His GrandPa As A Squatter

"When Malaya was under the British rule, they brought in Chinese and Indians to work in tin mines and rubber plantations," said Ahmad.
"The British built more schools at the mines and this unfairness led to the Chinese being more educated, although this is Tanah Melayu," he added referring to the Malay name of British Malaya.
"The Chinese were indeed squatters at that time," said Ahmad.
"I will not apologise. This is an undisputed political history," he added.

AAB's grandfather was Ha Su-chiang (also known as Hassan), was a Chinese Muslim who came from Sanya in Hainan.
squatter?

Some people say that Mahathir's father was a school teacher of part-Indian origin, specifically Malayalee (people who speak Malayalam not to be confused with Malay), whose father having migrated from the southern state of Kerala.
also squatter?

What about Khir Toyo whose father, Joyo Erodikromo, was an immigrant from Java, Indonesia.
yet another squatter?

No.
AAB, MM and KT's fathers/grandfathers weren't squatters. They moved here for their own reasons and made this home.
Just like Lulu's grandparents and greatgrandparents.
and probably your grandparents/greatgrandparents/great[x10------]grandparents too.
We are here to stay.
This is my home, your home, our home.
Negaraku.

Lulu Roll Eyes

here we have a bunch of BN goons,
in the month of Ramadhan where their calendars are packed with community activities
in the run up to most of the BN component party elections where they need this activity packed social month to social and lobby,
going off on a trip
to "update themselves with the latest information about agriculture and high-tech food production so that they could debate better on the Budget when Parliament sits again in October."
to "we have yet to decide whether we should go to China or Taiwan"
telling us, it “had nothing to do with Sept 16”

*roll eyes* *roll eyes*
where did they learn to tell such blatant lies from?
The "no, I'm not getting married" PM-ah?
*roll eyes* *roll eyes*

stupid idiots!
even if they think they can foil Sept 16 by sending them away on those dates, if there is going to be a crossover,
a) it could still take place whilst the potential crossover candidates are abroad cos they could have signed papers and given it to Anwar before they leave for wherever for whatever.
b) the act could be delayed till they return
and if these BN fellas watch Survivor, they better think again about the wisdom of sending off 40+ not very principled, want-to-be-in-power politicians away because there definetly are some believers of the new coalition there on the "study trip" who could wine, dine and form a new allegiance, maybe bringing even more crossovers into the other side when they return.

gosh... lousy liars and even lousier strategists. what's their name again? Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, Najib Razak, Tiong King Sing.
dumb-dumb-dumb
stupid-stupid-stupid

If Anything/Anyone, Lulu Thinks It was The PM Who Didnt Mean It

The PM said,
"You know during campaigning all sorts of things can come up. I don’t think he meant it."
in defense of bigoted, narrow minded racist Bukit Bendera Umno chief Datuk Ahmad Ismail who called the Chinese pendatang (immigrants) and said that “as the Chinese were only immigrants it was impossible to achieve equal rights amongst races” during a ceramah in Permatang Pauh in Aug 25.
Lulu thinks the Datuk was sincere, he meant every word he said, and is a hardcore believer and practitioner of what he said. Afterall, he IS from UMNO.

Whereas, when the PM says,
"We want to be a developed country in our own mould, that promises a bright future for every one of its citizens without discrimination against race, religion and background."
Lulu could not help but recall that he is now campaigning for his political survival [and usage of the private jet] and maklumla, I dont think he meant it.

Maybe we should heed to his call,
“This is not impossible if we unite, set aside differences and prejudices, and rise as a people with the resilience to face all enemies and challenges,”
unite and rise against UMNO, the biggest divider in our country.
