assist an opposition-led state government? how can???
afterall, remember what happened when Datuk Lee Kah Choon took up the offer from the DAP-led Penang government to join Penang Development Council and Invest Penang?
mind you, by then, he had resigned from all party posts, but remained an ordinary member of the party.
The hounds of Gerakan went for the jugular.
All kinds of accusations and tomahan were out there on him for his decision to put Penang above party politics.
Gerakan sent him a show-cause letter to explain his decision to accept a director's post in the Penang Development Corporation (PDC) and InvestPenang and why disciplinary action should not be taken against him for his decision.
In the end, Datuk Lee resigned from Gerakan.
"Since accepting the posts was not acceptable to the Gerakan leadership, I believe it is best for me to retreat totally from party politics, well said by a fine statesman.
I hope this puts to rest any discussion on the matter.
My objective is clear and had remained consistent throughout my political career, which is serving the people.
I believe the focus on job creation and measures to ensure sustainable growth is more important than continuous politicking. My objective is clear and it has remained consistent throughout my political career, which is serving the people. Hence, I have decided to answer the government's call for me to serve in both state agencies in this trying period,"
So, going by the same measure, shouldn't Penang Gerakan, for whatever their motives may be, be censured and disciplined for doing what the PM calls, acting against BN spirit? shouldn't Penang Gerakan be jeered and intimidated into leaving Gerakan?
DOes this Dr Teng know what he is opening himself to?
Is he playing some high level politic-thing, plotting to get Gerakan Penang thrown out of Gerakan?
