how did your MP Vote?
the Rashid bill calls for an "ammendment" in the constitution to change the retirement age of the Election Commission Chairman to 66. It is also of no coincidence that the current chairman is at that pivitol point.
Haris of the People's Parliament led an initiative for Malaysians to write to their MPs . He urged us to write to our MP and tell him or her that we want him to vote against the amendment bill. That we will check Hansard to make sure that if he or she speaks during the second and third reading of the bill, that he or she speaks against the bill.
Afterall, like what Haris says, our MP is there to represent us and not the party.
28 MPs were written to.
The MPs of Ampang, Ulu Langat, Tambun, Rasah, Pasir Gudang, Santubong, Gombak, Ipoh Timor, Subang, Bukit Bendera, Kelana Jaya, Bukit Katil, PJ Selatan, PJ Utara, Titiwangsa, Seputeh, Puchong, Ipoh Barat, Lembah Pantai, Jelutong, Bintulu, Cheras, Segambut, Selayang, Serdang, Batu Kawan, Miri and Shah Alam received letters from their constituents appealing them to say no to the bill.
What did we get?
We got a full attendance in Parliament yesterday!
According to the Sun, 189 voting in favour, including the sole Independent. This means 188 (out of the 198) BN MPs were in attendance at Parliament yesterday, setting a new record. A full house in Parliament!
All attending to vote in favor for the bill which people have written in to their MPs appealing to them to vote against.
All attending to vote in favor for the bill in spite of knowing what 40,000 Malaysians very public stand on what the issue is.
All attending to vote in favor for the bill because their political masters commanded them to.
You still want to vote for them?
Remember, they serve their political masters, not us.
[poster from mob1900, slightly edited cos ALL of them are like that]
