Lulu Will Be Attending This On Friday

ISA Arrests of HINDRAF 5 – Operation Lalang II in the Making?
The invocation of the Internal Security Act (ISA) to arrest five Hindraf leaders is most deplorable and marks another violation of the pledge by the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi to promote democracy, uphold human rights and defend the rule of law.
The five detained under the ISA are P. Uthayakumar, M Manoharan, R Kenghadharan, V Ganabatirau and T Vasanthakumar.
The return of the ISA is another regression of Malaysia to the dark era of human rights violations which can only tarnish the country's international reputation and image.
Is Operation Lalang 2 in the works with the warning by the Deputy Internal Security Minister, Datuk Mohd Johari Baharum that "a list of names had been submitted by the police and it was only a matter of time before several others were detained under the ISA".

The DAP is organising a forum on the above issue with the following details:
Date: 21st December 2007 (Friday)
Time: 7.30pm
Venue: KL Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall
The distinguished panel of speakers will include:
YB Lim Kit Siang, Parliamentary Opposition Leader
YB M Kulasegaran, MP for Ipoh Barat
YB Fong Kui Lun, MP for Bukit Bintang
Sdr Lim Guan Eng, DAP Secretary-General
Sdr A Sivanesan, DAP Central Executive Committee Member
Other speakers to be confirmed

Key problems to address to avoid possible manipulations are Transparency and Balance of Rights (HR) & obligations:

1. Ambiguity of Law.
Definition must be precise to avoid vague interpretations or "quote out of context".
In the case of ISA, National Security must be well specified.

2. Precise codes of practice or proper procedures to ensure transparent and not at the liberty of the authority or even by one Person.
Recommendation should be via a Committee rather than just one Person, such as the PM. (in the case of SCC, break in without warrant is HIGHLY ABUSIVE!)

3. An effective appealing or monitor procedures and system to prohibit manipulation and prompt rectification.
Fairness and Equalities must be the basis for the setting of Law, such that it provides the authority the Power but also their obligation not to ignore Human Rights.

4. An independent and effective Judiciary system.
They should be the one to sort out any discrepancy on the interpretation and execution and penalties of violation.

LEGISLATION, EXECUTION, MONITORING should be Independently done!
The confusion of such can be found in a great number of in Malaysian ACTS. Such as those for the Housing!

For ACT like ISA,
a balance of National Security and Human Security such as defined and layout in
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_security
are vital

p.s.
To the 5 Hindus Lawyers

The initiating of Section 8 (1) by PM with the ignoring of Section 73 is an action of "quote out of context" and surely BIAS! or, simply Manipulation of Law!

Hindraf has a valid issue, like most other minority groups in the country, the feeling of not being cared for.
, or for that matter the majority groups who felt that they are being compromised. But the leaders of hindraf sort of hijacked the movements by making outlandish claims of ethnic cleansing and should thus be made responsible and to bear the consequence. We do not want another afghanistan and iraq type of destruction simply because of its leaders. On the other hand we are learning the values of the west :(

dear quiet potato,

yes you are correct.

what is also more important is to spread the message. it is no point for us to be enlightened while others remained naive.

everybody will eventually make his choice. we play a bigger role to make sure our friends and family members are all well-informed.

The Trend &
The Shadow of Hindraf
=====================

In Bolehland, common practice takes over normalities.
Abnormalities are common in the Acts.
Express in abnormal way to get normal things done commonly acted!

Bersih appealed to the King cause PM talked not.
Similar, Hindraf voiced inequalities to the Queen!
Behind the voices, inequalities are the facts!

Can Hindraf ask other than Hindus to protest?
They had group Hindus to protest to expose the basic problems for all!
Rights deprived with neglect of fairness, the facts!

Main course and side dishes in a table for a meal!
Both feed, but they mean not the same!
Eating together could mean feeding the stomach
as well as the soul if ones communicate well!

Can any one else lead Hindus for a a movement?
Afghanistan, Iraq and many others are politics leading religion with equalities neglected!
Is Hindraf acting with the same facts??
Relating different facts are "hi-jack"!!

Globalisation keep better exchange of East & West
The West also share something from the East!
Value of the West
need good elaboration or it could be a mess!

Finding holes to plug with the Right plug is a good plug!
Made in West or East
a key point to plead?

Should ISA be on someone
telling the FACTS for everyone?

What more can you say ? Anyway, make the BERSIH issue the main one. Hindraf should stay low.
