‘Court play’ reason for change of lawyers
Looking back, we've gone a long way from the time when judges and lawyers went on holiday together.PUTRAJAYA: Attorney-General Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail said yesterday he had to change the prosecution team in the murder trial of Mongolian model Altantuya Shaariibuu in the interest of justice.
That was because Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP) Salehuddin Saidin who was leading the prosecution team had been seen playing badminton with trial judge Datuk Mohd Zaki Md Yasin.
I hope that the judicial service would take the cue from the AG Chambers.
Sigh... if only this kind of morality was in place when MGG was fighting his lawsuit.

The main reason for the scrupulousness is the whole world is literarily watching. This case has been picked up by all the international wire services and reported widely - even newspapers that very rarely report on Malaysia have have printed news on this case.
I guess its making the country famous for all the wrong reasons....

Now that the 'begitu sensitif' AG has so nobly? taken the moral high ground by replacing the wayward prosecution team, should'nt the presiding judge recuse himself from the case for showing bad judgement in publicly cavorting (courting?...badminton) with the prosecution. He cannot claim ignorance or oversight as we do refer to him as learned (wise)...judge(yang arif)!
