Lulu Dunno What Is Wrong With The Star Headlines Nowadays

i know, i know, most of you don't think much of their content anyway.
but this past week, Lulu has seen the strangest headlines from the Star.

first, there was the fresh wind headliner which was filled with mengampu-mengampu and more mengampu.

and today, on the print copy, "Malaysia Needs More Thinkers"
really, that was the headliner.
see, Maverick scanned it

erhm... it's kind of implying that Malaysians do not think, which may be the case as our immediate ex-PM said that he "what we had was a Cabinet that was not knowledgeable, all the time. Instead, the Cabinet comprised politicians, some of whom he said could be "as stupid as he was", and not made up of experts in highway concessions. " with regards to the highway contracts. And we are duh-people who voted them in.

Turns out that the nation should create new community of Muslim intellectuals.

Someone at the Star probably duh-ed the original headliner cos you won't find it in the online version of the same report.

After decades of brow beating individualism as implicitly bad in Bolehland and promoting conformity(an euphemism also for obligatory race unity, we have now the perfect oxymoron.

Racism has no inherent intellectual soul or substance.

But now laksa is said to be possible to be served without the soup.

ROTFLOL!

i wonder if they realise this means changing the education system. how do you create thinkers if you suppress thought, ban ideas & books and insult society by assuming we're dumber than the govt?

every new idea in society begins by potentially being harmful to social harmony. our law (i.e. ISA) doesn't permit such things, does it?

I like your blog v much. Why ?

It is an intellectual( intelligent) site, where intelligent things are brought up and discussed by intelligent people.

So why look so far ? We already have v smart people. Right !

I propose Lulu that you be the head of this Big Project.

Any 2nders ?

What A Lulu said...

lulu will never know if she meets the intellectual-intelligent bill cos they're looking for non-siew yoke eaters.

What A Lulu said...

[since i'm on a roll]
you know how they have different cut-offs and marking schemes in school for a certain race, it makes lulu wonder what's their definition of intellectuals.

"So where do we go from here ? "

No where, much like a donkey tied to a wheel to draw water from a well....nothing intelligent from nothing planted with he right seed. The vaunted (ram it down)"virtues" of religiousity also adds heavily to that albatross around the neck.

GIGO prevails amid grandiose hype and tout. Self delusionary expectation and feel-good propaganda...believed even by the selves who created it.

Mediocrity is the writing that's on the wall - with a bit of luck, at best.

Indeed Midnite Lily, history shows us that reformists were initially persecuted, or at least, treated with suspicion. But here we have a Bolehland situation where some ppl, as a rule, do not have the means or the predisposition to initiate the necessary and the proper reforms within the system - they move traditionally as a large herd, relishing conformity for the peer approval that it brings.

They will not cease to overtly or covertly hide your light so that theirs alone will shine.....exactly what ensures their stuck in the muck mediocrity.
Not only did Jesus mentioned and spoke against such a propensity but it is also a Dharma and will not stand.

I think the government should hold a 'thinking contest' between siewyoke eaters and non-siewyoke eaters to find out which of the above category can provide better ideas on science and technology to ensure the nation's success.

Believe it or not. The first time I heard the statement about the efficacy of siew yoke was from a Sikh! :D

AFAIK, Fideism and Thinking mixes as well as oil and water! WRT the absolutist type of Fideism, ie., This is not really the case with Christianity, e.g.

Blathering senselessly is an easy and feel good thing to do. They don't even understand the nature their own credos and what it actually entails. Thinking inside a box is still thinking within one, even if it's a large one.

Probably never going to happen when you have people like my old secondary school counselor who told me not to become a writer because it "doesn't pay very much". Screw that female dog.

Midnite Lily's right. If you're really interested in having "thinkers" and "intellectuals" then you need to allow people the freedom to read and say whatever they want. Something that our laws and education system are made, by accident or design, to prohibit.

You sort of see this in Australia as well, though to a much lesser extent. Writers no longer get awarded prizes or funding (while artists still do) because the Howard Government's afraid of accidentally sponsoring something radical.

If, after decades of repression foisted on the nedia and constriction via education and implacaby archaic and narrrow culturing one can produce thinkers, then Bolehland can indeed performed the miracle of having the cake and eating it too. (Hear ye, hear ye, David Copperfield!)

The governance and policy makers of the land are incapable of changing course or reversing this stricken obsession of mind control, yet they keep on making stupid and grandiose proclamations like such. They don't understand what's irony and what's frivolous speech. Carried away by their inaneness and indoctrinated preumpion of wisdom, they can visualise an elephant as well as any blind man. They can't tell a vision from a delusion. Like with that clueless 2020 one.
